Beginning May 1, 2021, TAPS is transitioning to an online volunteer management software called Better Impact. Better Impact will allow us to better coordinate and communicate with our volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to learn more about our volunteer opportunities and how to register to become a TAPS volunteer. Please note, it may take up to 1 week to process the volunteer application.
In an effort to create a more streamlined volunteer opportunity for you, we are implementing a volunteer management software called Better Impact. Through Better Impact, you can create an individual/family account, log your volunteer hours electronically, and sign up for volunteer opportunities through the Better Impact website or the free MyImpact app that you can download on your phone.
Once your account is set up, you can either log in and log out at the shelter computer that is now in place of the log-book, download the MyImpact app and sign in and out from your phone, or you can log hours from your computer at home. From both the website and the phone app, you can also update your areas of volunteer interest and sign up for volunteer events.
We ask that prior to your next volunteer experience that you create a Better Impact account by clicking here
FOSTER HOMES SAVE LIVES!
Can't commit to an animal long term but want to change their life?
Please consider serving as a foster home for our shelter dogs, cats, puppies or kittens!
As a TAPS foster family, you open your heart and home to an animal in need. Fostering allows you to share your home with a shelter animal without the long-term commitment of a permanent animal. Whether you want to foster a single dog or cat, or a litter of bottle baby kittens, we have a need for you. Foster homes help in many ways including increasing our shelter capacity, serving as a safe haven for pets who may not do well in the shelter environment, and protecting weak immune systems from being compromised in the kennel environment.
When you serve as a foster home, TAPS provides for the medical treatment of the animals and you provide the love, home and transportation to and from their medical appointments. You can be involved as much or as little as you'd like in the adoption process. The length of fostering an animal varies based on your foster choice. Bottle baby kittens and puppies can be with their foster families for 8+ weeks, and a senior dog who just needs out of the shelter could simply need a foster home for just a few weeks. You can talk with our shelter staff to determine an appropriate foster placement for your home and navigate through the fostering process.
